My CHI hairdryer was $120 just over a year ago. Last week, the heating element stopped working. It will run but will only blow cold air. All of the postings seem to give a CHI product about 1 year of life which is absurd for what the cost of the product is. My sister and mother also bought one and theirs were both cracked when they pulled them out the box. I should not have to pay a $35 repair fee plus shipping and handling for something that is sold at a high price but with poor engineering. What a scam. I was forced to dig out my old $20 Revlon hairdryer that has worked for over 5 years!

My chi quit working and it seemed to have a short in the plug. I had my father in-law put a new plug on it and it works like new again. I will not buy another chi because this is my second one. My 1st one I had the same problem with but it was within my first year so the place I brought it exchaged it for a new one (which is the one I have now) and its about 2 years old and now I had the same problem. So hopefully with the new plug it will last a little longer now.

I have just bought my 3rd CHI flat iron. I had the same problem with the 1st two. However, they each lasted about 2 yrs. They just quit working. And it appears to be a wiring issue. Unfortunately, the last 2 I bought I purchased from ebay...so yes, I'm screwed for a new one. So yesterday I purchased a new one on sale at Beauty Brands for $99.99. I will keep my receipt & box as they guarantee for life at the store. They did provide me with some helpful information. CHI now places a velcro strap on the cord. This is to hold the cord vs. wraping it (like all people do) around the device. They indicated to me that is what is causing the short. Still frustrating. I'm in now for over $350 for flat irons. I have tried other products and even though it pisses me off the product is worth it and the only one that truly works.

I bought the red velvet 2inches flat iron CHI. It worked great for about 10 months but then I would have to always push the reset button to turn on. On christmas eve I did my hair, my sisters and when my mom wanted to do her hair the thing just wouldn't turn on again, I tried every plug. I can't belive I payed over 200 dollars for it. Now I'm trying to get my boyfriend to rewire it let's see if it works. One thing is for sure CHI is corrupted, after reading all these posts clearly their products are made to last one year tops. THEY WILL NEVER SEE ONE DIME OF MY MONEY AGAIN.

I bought my daughter a Chi last year for Christmas. Paid $150 for it. Yesterday (Christmas - one year later) it worked fine. Today it doesn't. She has to jiggle the wire to get it to work. I figured this was just my bad luck - the item quits just after the warranty ended!!! After reading the comments, I will NOT replace it with another Chi!!!

i am extremely disappointed in the chi manufacturers. there is no contact number available and my chi went out in four months. i purchased it from target and the corporate office could not pull up my information. 150.00 gone down the drain. i would not suggest chi to anyone. it works beautifully for about three months and then it crashes! not worth it. try fhi or corioliss.

I bought my CHI less than a year ago. I was under the impression the CHI is supposed to be the best hair straightening iron out there....NOT!!! I wish I would have read all the negative comments about CHI before buying it. Mine has been working fine and then all of a sudden tonight it wouldn't turn on. I agree that we shouldn't have to pay for shipping and handling to return a faulty product. I won't recommend CHI to anyone else. To the person below me who said it is common sense to save your receipt for return, your IGNORANT...I have saved my box and just threw it away less than a month ago. I figured that since this product is so expense and is supposed to be the best of the best I wouldn't need to ever return it. Maybe just replace it after a few years of use but not after having it for less than a year. You don't expect something so expensive to just not turn on one day after you haven't had any problems with it. Since the majority of the comments are all the same, I must agree that CHI must have scam going on here. How come nobody can get their CHI to work all of a sudden one day, after it has worked fine for months????

This question is for haleigh. Can you tell me what your husband did exactly to rewire the flat iron? My flat iron was working the last time I used it and suddenly stopped working. I believe it has something to do with the reset button malfunctioning. I don't believe Farouk will replace it or repair it. I think it can be repaired.

I have had my CHI for almost a year now and a few weeks ago I started having to wiggle the cord to get it to work. It is a royal pain in the rear trying to speed along and get ready for work only to have to stop, wiggle the cord, and wait for it to heat back up again. After reading all the other comments, I find I am not alone. I will NEVER buy another CHI again and will tell everyone I know about this problem. What a waste of money. Add me to the ever growing list of unhappy customers.

OK,I have read all of these comments!!!
and it is obviose that CHI has a serios problem!!! My oldest daughter baught her first CHI about three years ago it worked great for almost a year, until it started turning off and we would have to wiggle the cord to get it on again,, so we thought it was because it was used so much..(4 girls plus my self),, so I bought 4 more that following Christmas,, well we have come to find out that it is the manufacters fault that this iron stops working,, this is totaly unexeptable,,we as consumers have paid alot of damb money for something that doesn't even last a year...I would expect a better warranty from a name like CHI and from the amount of money I spent I think I deserve that!!!!! So CHI owner/who ever take pride in your name and do the right thing and fix this.. that is the honerable thing to do for your costumers.

It seems that several people are experiencing the same problem! My daughter has had her CHI iron for a short time (gift from her Grammy) and had a similar situation. I don't understand why I would have to pay anything additional. CHI should stand behind there product, repair the iron, and pick up shipping charges. CHI has lost me as a customer, that is for sure!

I have a CHI flat iron and I loved it! Mine just recently stopped working, it was fine one day and the next, NOTHING!! I think CHI has very ****ty products and I will NEVER buy there brand again! I will also be sure to let everyone I know how ****ty it is and make sure they don't buy CHI products. Nobody wants to spend that much money for a straightener and then 5 months later it break and not be able to do anything about it b/c they didn't save their receipt!!!! What a rip off!!!!!!!!!
